I am a Star

I am a star

A brilliant sapphire sitting in

the vast emptiness of an ebony pillow.

I am thousands of light years away

But people wish upon me everyday,

As if I were their only confidante.

Compared to the nightly mother star,

My translucent rays only twinkle

upon the rippling waves of the lake.

I have no definte shape

But people insist that

I am a star
